Rock Scrambling Days and Courses in the Lake District
Scrambling in the Lake District falls inbetween walking and climbing where the use of the hands are normally required to aid upward progress. The rope may be used on some of the harder scrambles depending upon your ability. No previous scrambling or rope work experience is required as tuition will be given when necessary but a good head for heights is obviously needed. All the technical equipment is provided - harnesses, helmets, ropes etc.

Rock Scrambling In The Lake District

Scrambles are normally graded from 1 to 3, 1 being the easiest which most people should manage without the aid of a rope in dry conditions. On a grade 2 scramble the rope would be used on some pitches to safeguard people and at grade 3 the rope is used most of the time. At the top end of this grade you are moving onto easy rock climbing of “moderate” standard. Pinnacle Ridge grade 3 on St Sunday Crag, Slab and Notch grade 3 on Pillar Rock and Cam Crag Ridge grade 2 in Borrowdale are just a few of the excellent scrambles climbed on previous courses.
